VHB's Richmond, Virgina Beach and Williamsburg Virginia offices are seeking an Civil Design Engineer to join our team to support our land development projects.

Our team has had the pleasure to work on projects like GreenCity Ecodistrict transforming abandoned corporate campus into a sustainable community with mixed-income housing, forested areas, parks, and multi-use arena. Our Site Civil Engineers have and continue to collaborate with our Landscape Architecture and Transportation Planning teams to reposition an industrial warehouse district "Sauer Center" to a thriving mixed-use community with communal space, residential, hotel, retail and office spaces.

Salary

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in any of these three offices is $68,000 to $80,000. Final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participates as part of multi-disciplinary teams assisting with the preparation of basic plan details and outlines, cost estimates, analyses, and calculations in support of broader engineering activities involving the design and analysis of the built environment and of equipment, components, structures, and systems.
  • Using prescribed methods, performs field tests, takes measurements, analyzes field data (e.g. Surveys) as instructed.
  • Prepares basic sketches and calculations for site plan designs (e.g., layout and grading).
  • Following standard practices, gathers and records data to be used for writing specifications.
  • Prepares routine technical reports or sections of reports.

Skills and Attributes

  • Entry-level knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in civil engineering.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software design and analysis systems (e.g., CAD, Civil3D, Microstation, GIS, stormwater hydrology and hydraulics,) preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 0-1 years of professional site/civil engineering experience
  • 1-3 years of professional site/civil engineering experience preferred
  • Engineering in Training (EIT) preferred
