Work Shift

Work hours: Rotating shift 8 hour shifts and will work any of the following shifts per week below:

• 0630-1500

• 0800-1630

• 0930-1800 (Monday through Friday)

• 0700-1530

• 1230-2100 (weekend)

• 1400-2230

• 1500-2330 (Monday through Friday)

Pharmacists currently work every 4th weekend * (subject to change and could be more frequent i.e., every 3rd dependent upon staffing/departmental needs).

Overnight shifts are not initially required may be required for coverage needs after sufficient onboarding/training (usually after ~ 1 year).

Location: Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA

Job responsibilities:

Manages patient drug therapy in accordance with the medical staff approved clinical practice standards. Maintains current knowledge of drug use through continuing education. Serves as the primary resource for drug information within the hospital. Assures the appropriateness of all physician medication orders. Precepts pharmacy students as assigned.

BLS required within six months of hire. Please note: Clinical Pharmacists working in Sentara Rx (0014891) are excluded from the BLS requirement.

Required qualifications:

• BLD - Bachelor's Level Degree- Pharmacy

• Virginia Pharmacist license REQUIRED

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) REQUIRED within 6 months of hire

• Will consider new graduated pharmacists and pharmacists not licensed in Virginia/NC due to relocation. Must have Virginia or North Carolina (applicable to location) license within 90 days of Sentara start date.

Preferred qualifications:

• Prior hospital experience for 2 years min strongly preferred
