Our Medical Readiness and Response Product Line specializes in medical and public health preparedness for military and government clients. The Environmental Health Analyst is a full time position home-based in the Hampton, VA. Relocation support is not available.
Job Description
The purpose of this position is to assist the client achieve effective medical, public health and senior leader preparedness for identification and mitigation of environmental hazards, toxic industrial chemicals, emerging diseases and other hazards impacting environmental health mission requirements.
- Conduct and/or participate in assigned technical tasks and activities with minimum of supervision, within time allocation and budget constraints. Manage, as assigned, projects that may involve multiple organizational units within the medical readiness and response area.
- Assist other Battelle elements provide quality products by developing an understanding of the greater Battelle capability, directing tasks for execution within Battelle to best support the client, and participating in matrixed staff support for project execution across the Market Sectors.
- Maintain both formal and informal communications and relationships with Navy and other DoD clients including responsibility for reports and presentations.
- Achieve high technical quality in assigned projects.
- Carry out project development assignments.
- Prepare, present and follow-up on proposals, as assigned.
- Apply working knowledge of force health protection and training procedures in assisting clients meet mission requirements.
- Plan and carry out appropriate self-development activities.
- Provide input to management for staff performance evaluations as requested.
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
- Masters Degree from an accredited college in a field (public health, environmental health, etc.) relevant to this position.
- Possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
- At least 15 years of active duty US military experience working complex issues in environmental health, operational preventive medicine, operational military chemical and biological defense or a combination of related experience. Experience in military operational deployments.
- Relevant professional specialization such as Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Sanitarian; etc.
- Knowledge of force protection/CBRNE defense principles in an operational theater/ homeland security environment.
- Experience in the science and application of operational preventive medicine from a training or operational perspective.
- Experience in establishing project/program goals and managing projects.
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
- Ability to use web-based software and basic word processing, presentation and spreadsheet programs.
- Able to travel domestically and overseas.
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
- Education at the doctoral level in a field relevant (public health, environmental health, preventive medicine, etc.) to the duties of this position.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret security clearance.
- In depth experience in environmental health hazard assessment in an deployed environment.
- Demonstrated experience in evaluating programs such as food sanitation, public health sanitation, thermal stress control, swimming pool/recreational sanitation, ashore-and-afloat water-and-wastewater sanitation, vector control, preventive medicine for ground forces, and disease surveillance and prevention.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to manage multiple projects while meeting technical requirements, budgets, and deadlines.
- Ability to develop new business opportunities in the environmental health and /or hazard protection areas.
